Here you will see items closely tied to Reece's work and life, including a typewriter he used to compose his works, published books, samples of his letters and poems, family photographs, his record player and personal music collection, and furnishings from his home and studio. One highlight of the exhibit is The Bitter Berry, an 24-minute award-winning video detailing Reece's life and poetry which runs continuously in the exhibit. This wonderful exhibit will be on display at the History Center for only a limited time, from February 3 to March 27, 2010. Also, please mark your calendars to attend two related events: - On February 13, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., in association with the Hall County Book Exchange, the History Center will host Mildred Greear, a close personal friend and associate of Reece. Please join us as Ms. Greear shares her memories and reads selections of poetry. Click here for more details. - On March 9, we will host a special reception at the History Center before our monthly forum. The forum speaker will be Dr. John Kay, President of the Byron Herbert Reece Society. At the preceding reception, we will debut a special feature of the exhibit that will be on display for only a limited time: the original typewritten manuscript of Reece's Ballad of the Bones, one of his most popular and critically acclaimed works.
