Family Day--A Salute to Veterans and Families

Tour extensive specially-loaned exhibits of military memorabilia and artifacts throughout Rotunda, Founders’ Hall, and Education Center. Talk to veterans & hear their stories. Participate in Letters from Home project by making cards to send deployed military personnel and donate small items for care packages to send with letters. Suggested items to donate include small canned meats/fruits, individual packages (cookies, crackers), single packets of hot cocoa or cider mix, inidividual snacks (granola bars, dried fruit, beef jerky, etc.), misc. items such as black or white crew socks or hand warmers (found in hunting section). Start your own Victory Garden—learn how. Construct a patriotic pinwheel. Bring heirloom military artifacts and memorabilia for identification and discussion by knowledgeable collectors. Free admission.
